Global Travel Collection has appointed former Virtuoso executive, Albert Herrera as their chief commercial officer where he will be responsible for managing the company’s relationships with partners to maximize their offerings to the organization’s premium leisure, corporate and entertainment travel advisors. Herrera will report to GTC President, Angie Licea, effective April 12.
“We are excited and proud to welcome Albert to the Global Travel Collection team,” said Licea. “We trust that Albert’s record of developing partnerships, forging strong relationships with clients, and creating real value through innovative experiences will enhance Global Travel Collection’s offerings in these areas. We look forward to tapping Albert’s creativity and influence to further expand our footprint.”
Herrera was senior vice president of global partnerships at Virtuoso and played an integral role in connecting Virtuoso’s extensive product portfolio with its luxury advisor membership. He also managed cruise, tour, land and tourism board relationships after transforming Virtuoso’s hotel program when he joined in 2004.
GTC gave a reassuring message that Herrera’s appointment will not affect its relationship with Virtuoso. “We value our partnership and will continue to work together,” said Licea. In 2020, GTC announced that many of its agencies would continue to be Virtuoso members, including Protravel International/Tzell.
Virtuoso issued a release congratulating Albert, with Matthew Upchurch, chairman and CEO of Virtuoso saying “Albert has made a significant contribution to building Virtuoso over these many years, making an indelible impression not only on our network, but on the industry,” said Matthew Upchurch, chairman and CEO of Virtuoso. “We will miss his impeccable style, gracious manner, creativity and passion for travel. I am pleased his new ‘home’ is with a Virtuoso member and we will stay connected. We wish him nothing but the very best for his future success.”
