Karim Lakhani is currently the Executive Vice President, Food and Beverage/Procurement of Northwood Hospitality and began working with Northwood Investors in 2009 Lakhani oversees all F&B operations & procurement for 11, Northwood properties, The London West Hollywood, Amara, Sedona, Ballantyne, Charlotte, portfolio of four hotels, The Darcy, DC, Cheeca Lodge & Spa, Morada Bay restaurants, Islamorada, Naples Grande Resort & Spa/ Golf, Naples, Tranquility Bay, Marathon.

NWI’s, previously owned and managed, The New York Palace Hotel went thru a $150Million renovation for total hotel, Lakhani, developed seven F&B concepts that were launched in the fall of 2013. The concepts launched with 3 dinning venues, Villard Gallery (fine dining with celebrity chef Michel Richard), Villard Bistro, Pomme Palais (French market cafe), Tavern on 51 bar, Troubles Trust Lounge & Rarities exclusive lounge with rare spirits, wines & champagnes.

Lakhani, has over 40 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Lakhani, an innovative, award winning chef, worked with two- and three-star Michelin chefs - Michel Richard (Citronelle), Alain Ducasse, Jean Louis Palladin just to name a few.

He has a proven record of significantly increasing food and beverage revenue and profitability. Previously he was senior vice president food & beverage and procurement at HEI/Merritt Hospitality. During his tenure, he managed food and beverage operations for more than 30 full service hotels, generating annual revenue in excess of $110 million. He led the company in F&B Operating standards, innovative banquet & catering presentation, restaurant concept development and execution, creating a food and beverage profit of more than 39 percent.

Prior to joining HEI/Merritt, he was senior vice president food & beverage and procurement at Interstate Hotels and Resorts/ Bridgestreet, one of the world’s largest independent hotel management companies. During his tenure there, he managed food and beverage operations for more than 300 hotels, resorts, inns & golf operations generating annual revenue in excess of $600 million and purchasing of over $900 million. He negotiated contracts with major food distributors, food manufacturers’ chemical companies and beverage partners. He successfully implemented the IHR core beverage program & developed the beverage e-menu system including online training program with Incentive Marketing Inc. Lakhani coordinated new concept development and ground-up construction of multiple restaurant & pub operations and recruited, trained and directed each restaurant & banquet / catering operations team. He also developed the Lead Chefs/Food and Beverages program to ensure event with restaurants were always on the leading edge of culinary & beverage trends.

During his 40-year career, Lakhani has also worked for Trusthouse Forte, The Watergate Hotel, The King Edward Hotel, Capstar Hotels, MeriStar Hotels & Resorts & Nobel Investment Trust, with projects in China, Egypt, Kenya, Uganda & Pakistan.

Lakhani, has also served on the Food & Beverage advisory boards for Marriott, Intercontinental Hotels and the Night Club and Bar Board
Mr. Lakhani, graduated from the culinary arts program at the George Brown College, in Toronto, Canada.
