Scott K. Hammons, Vice President of Design & Construction for DiamondRock Hospitality, LP, brings a wealth of tactical project execution and enterprise level program management to the table. DiamondRock’s D&C program oversees all creative repositioning, renovations, building infrastructure investments and capital planning in a portfolio of 31 hotels; a balanced asset mixture of full service, luxury, branded, independent, urban gateway, as well as destination resort locations.
Since putting DiamondRock’s first internal D&C department together in 2016, the team has performed over twenty significant renovations in over half of the portfolio, including several complete re-branding projects, with several more in the works.
Prior to joining DRH, Mr. Hammons served as Vice President, Design & Construction for RLJ Lodging Trust, leading a large platform deploying all capital expenditure for a portfolio of 126 assets, with a focus on strategic realignment of departmental resources and program processes.
With a hospitality background of 27 years, Mr. Hammons discovered his love for project management while working with Kimpton Hotels. He describes his role opening their first five DC area hotels as a tipping point in his career.
He also speaks fondly of very unique experiences working on landmark projects in New York City and Washington, D.C. Hammons led the master redevelopment planning and associated renovation of the renowned Waldorf=Astoria, New York, as well as significant renovations of the New York Hilton Midtown, while with Hilton Worldwide. Prior to his tenure at Hilton, Scott helped lead the $150M+ redevelopment of the Washington Hilton for Lowe Enterprises and worked for Ian Schrager to reimagine the Gramercy Park Hotel.
