SAN FRANCISCO, CA SEPTEMBER 21, 2020 – Markus Treppenhauer brings almost three decades of hospitality leadership to his position as General Manager of the brand’s flagship property, Fairmont San Francisco.
Mr. Treppenhauer arrives in the Bay Area from Seattle, where he most recently held the post of General Manager at the iconic Fairmont Olympic. In that position, he managed the operation of the historic landmark hotel, where he led the property through a more than $50 million renovation and restoration.
Markus joined Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in 2007, as Director of Operations at Fairmont Orchid, Kohala Coast, Hawaii. Following, he was promoted to Hotel Manager at Fairmont Banff Springs, Banff Springs, Alberta, Canada, and accepted his first General Manager role in 2012, at Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, Jasper, Alberta, Canada. Prior to joining Fairmont Hotels & Resorts, Mr. Treppenhauer held progressively senior food and beverage leadership positions with organizations including, The Highlands Inn, Carmel, California, Pebble Beach Resorts, Pebble Beach, California, and Hilton Waikoloa Village, Waikoloa, Hawaii.
Active in the local community, Mr. Treppenhauer served on the Board of Directors for Tourism Jasper and Visit Seattle.

Markus earned an undergraduate degree in hotel management from Industrie-Und Handelskammer in Munich, Germany. Years later he went on to receive a Masters of Business Administration in Executive Management from Royal Roads University, Victoria, BC, Canada.
Markus and his wife are thrilled to return to California and will reside in San Francisco. Markus is particularly looking forward to following his favorite Bay Area Sports team after having been away for some time.
