Embers Aquatics CIC, is a Social Enterprise. 100% of profits from all activities are reinvested back into teaching the world to swim.
Having always loved swimming and being a swimming teacher, founder Anna Roscoe was shocked to discover the high rates of drowning in developing countries. Whilst working on voluntary projects and travelling, Anna witnessed first hand how bad the problem was and how many children could not swim. As a Swimming Tutor there was a simple fix to the problem, teach children to swim.
Trial courses training some local guys in The Gambia as swimming teachers and basic first aid skills proved successful but not sustainable. The training was useful but then was not used. Embers Connect was born to deliver consistent training by training the trainers and creating clubs where the new skills could be put to use. The Gambians required ongoing support to start teaching, not just a certificate.
As the environment is all of our responsibility, all training and swimming lessons also includes a 5 minute beach clean up and education about looking after the water, preventing rubbish entering it. All Ambassadors take that message back to their communities.
Working with local partners where there are some, Embers Aquatics is now on a mission to train Water Safety Ambassadors and Swimming Teachers in areas with high rates of drowning worldwide. Swimming Saves Lives. Love Water. Respect Water.
