The Global Virus Network (GVN) is a coalition of experts in medical virology working to advance our knowledge about how viruses cause disease, and to develop diagnostics, drugs and vaccines to prevent illness and death. No single institution has expertise in all areas of virology. The GVN brings world-class virologists together in innovative ways in order to leverage individual strengths and to focus global teams of scientists on key scientific problems. The power of GVN lies in its global reach, the depth of its science, the speed with which it can tackle new research problems, and its commitment to solving viral challenges facing the human population.
GVN is an independent 501(c)3, non-profit organization. Currently, the consists of more than 40 Centers of Excellence and over 5 Affiliated Institutions in more than 25 countries.
