Do you think that the past year’s events have changed the DNA of luxury travel?
I believe we have a lot to look forward to this year and beyond when it comes to luxury travel. The uncertainties of the last year have not completely melted away, but we’re confident that Turtle Bay is the best experiential resort in Hawaii, and we can’t wait to welcome our guests back. Our team has kept a close eye on travel trends and have worked tirelessly to bring contemporary and timeless elements to the resort. At the end of the day, the core traits of luxury travel — unmatched quality, rejuvenation and adventure — are still in the DNA of this industry, and they’re in the DNA of Turtle Bay.
What are your guests looking for when they choose your hotel?
When planning a trip to the resort, our guests are looking for a one-of-a-kind, unforgettable experience. Turtle Bay has undergone an amazing transformation and visitors can expect to find an environment that is both perfectly representative of Hawaii’s natural beauty and filled with modern luxury. The recent reimagining embodies the ubiquitous surf culture of the North Shore while celebrating Turtle Bay’s identity as an iconic gathering place for the community.
How have F&B operations adapted and how many of these trends are here to stay?
The entire food and beverage program at Turtle Bay has been reinvented to embrace the resort’s new approach and the natural qualities of Hawaii. Sustainable agriculture from the North Shore has been woven into the menu offerings at our flagship restaurant, Alaia. While dining, guests will experience fresh and delicious cuisine, including produce from the resort’s own farm, as they soak in stunning panoramic views of the island.
How are you supporting your team as they prepare for the summer?
As we prepare to welcome guests back to Turtle Bay, our team has banded together to make sure we are operating as a cohesive unit. It is an exciting time of course for everyone to be returning from a pandemic, but even more so to have a new and improved hotel that we can all be proud of. We are introducing our team to the new offerings and the new designs, but the feeling of the hospitality ohana remains as is and even stronger. We are striving to keep this momentum going through our team, so that our returning guests may experience the same excitement we are feeling right now.
