As former chief operating officer for Nobu Restaurants and director of operations for Nobu Hotels, Santi is the opening task force manager for this global brand. He is working round the clock on reopening hotels as the markets become viable.
You are in the process of opening some of your hotels. Can you tell us how you are deciding which ones to open and when you anticipate opening the others?
Our hotels are adhering closely to the health and safety protocols mandated within their destinations and regions. We have already begun to open some of our US properties in Malibu and Miami Beach. As July approaches more of our hotels will open in the Las Vegas, Los Cabos, Marbella, and Ibiza.
How are you changing operations so ensure both guests and staff feel safe?
We are implementing heightened precautionary measures to our already rigorous cleaning protocols to ensure health and safety for our guests and team members. Some of these protocols consist of temperature checks, face masks worn by staff and available for guests, socially distanced seating throughout our facilities and the increased use of personal electronic devices for restaurant menus and hotel information.
What programming are you introducing to elevate your guest experience?
Our hotels are all about the local area so our team is working to craft more meaningful and intimate moments such as picnics in local parks, safe tours of the city and more lavish dining moments that can be experienced in the privacy of the guest room or suite.
What trends do you think will remain with us in a post-pandemic future?
Hopefully, greater attention to hygiene will continue post-pandemic as it does help protect us against other illnesses. Also, the surge of fitness has been inspiring and the great appreciation of the environment.
